Livability.com last week ranked Gainesville #15 among the nation’s 50 Best Cities for Entrepreneurs. About 2,000 small-to-mid-sized cities were ranked on 15 data points. The list was then refined by Livability.com editors to ensure an appropriate variety of cities in terms of both size and geography. The resulting Top 50 Best Cities for Entrepreneurs list is therefore a collection of cities that are ideal crucibles for a new business venture to start and thrive and for entrepreneurs to settle in, put down roots and start families.
Livability.com refers to Gainesville as a college town that “is a mecca for things to do like the arts, easy access to the beach and even Disney World; but Gainesville is also gaining a name for itself in the startup community.”
The city ranked in the top 3 for food spending, the top 20 for affordable housing, the top 10 for commute time, and more. Livability has also recognized Gainesville on its Top 100 Best Places to Live and the Top 10 Best College Towns.
