An employee leasing firm, most recently called a professional employer organization or PEO, offers human resources administrative services to client companies. The primary advantage of doing business with a PEO is that the client company is able to outsource its human resources tasks so that it can focus on the business' core competencies. Because the PEO assembles all of the payroll and administrative tasks of its clients, it is able to offer significant efficiencies and professional HR services that most small and medium size businesses could not provide on their own. Therefore, a PEO relationship, also called co-employment, increases the efficiency and professionalism of the client business and allows it to focus more on its own business model and its customers.
