WiPower Received 2009 ITFlorida Award
WiPower, Inc. Received the 2009 ITFlorida Innovation and Entrepreneurialism AwardGTEC startup WiPower, Inc. received the ITFlorida award for Excellence in Innovation and Entrepreneurialism at the 7th Annual Awards Gala and Tech Forum on November 10. WiPower, Inc. is a technology startup participating in the Gainesville Technology Enterprise Center incubator program, and the WiPower Wireless Power System is based on technology from the University of Florida.
WiPower Background— WiPower Wireless Power Technology: WiPower’s wireless power technology uses the principles of induction to send power over short distances to compatible electronic devices. Users can charge cell phones, mp3 players, digital cameras and other devices by simply placing them on top of a WiPower pad. WiPower’s system enables the greatest functionality and most flexible applications for end consumers, and the WiPower wireless power system is differentiated by three key qualities—(1) freedom of movement of the devices on top of the charging pad, (2) simultaneous charging of multiple devices on a single charging pad and (3) simple and low cost design.
GTEC Background— Growing Tech Companies & Creating High-Wage/High-Skill Jobs! The Gainesville Technology Enterprise Center (GTEC) helps to grow technology-based companies in the Gainesville/Alachua County community to create high-wage/high-skill jobs and strengthen the local economy. Since inception, the GTEC program has had a direct and indirect economic impact of more than $308 million on the local Gainesville/Alachua County economy, and the GTEC program has successfully graduated eight technology-based companies. GTEC startups and graduates have received more than $57.6 million in grant funding, revenues and investment capital.
