School might be out for the summer, but LGAA is already planning for the first day of school this fall. Every August LGAA organizes Kids’ Start at the O’Connell Center. The event helps Alachua County Head Start graduates entering Kindergarten by providing them with essentials such as backpacks, clothing, immunizations, library cards, school supplies and health screenings. The program began as a project of Leadership Gainesville Class 22 and has become an annual community event. This year it will take place on August 15th. Leadership Gainesville Alumni help staff the event and coordinate sponsorships.
