"Red, White and Blue" Chamber After Hours this Thursday!

Join us at the Commerce Building, 300 E University Avenue, for Chamber After Hours this Thursday, October 23, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. In honor of the upcoming elections, the theme is "Red, White and Blue," with an old-fashioned campaign rally serving lemonade, hot dogs, apple pie and barbeque. This is a FREE event for all members; cash bar only. Sponsored by the 2008 Platinum Circle of Champions: Cox Communications, Glaeser Realty and ProGifts. Shuttle services will be provided from the Kirby Smith Center parking lot, 620 E University Avenue, by AP Limousine, in addition to available parking around the Chamber offices. T. Bo Foods Ribbon Cutting Today!

Join us tomorrow, October 21, for a ribbon cutting for T. Bo Foods, LLC, presenting Irie style jerk foods.  The event will be held at Cucina Mia, 13005 SW 1st Road, in the Tioga Town Center from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.  You're invited to join the celebration, network and socialize, and to taste samples of the delicious seasonings used in their one of a kind, Irie jerk style cuisine!

Dragon Rises College of Oriental Medicine Ribbon Cutting this Friday!

In recognition of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Day, Dragon Rises College of Oriental Medicine is hosting an open house this Friday, October 24, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.  The ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. is in honor of the recent move to their new location at 1000 NE 16th Avenue, Building F.  Please join us for a proclomation from our mayor, tours of the college and student intern clinic and refreshments.
Presentations and demonstrations of acupuncture and Oriental medicine will also be offered.   


Mark Your Calendar… Speaker Marco Rubio to Speak at LGAA Tiger Bay TOMORROW!

We are excited to announce that Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio will be speaking at the LGAA Tiger Bay event scheduled for October 22nd at Savannah Grande. Speaker Rubio was elected to the Florida State House of Representatives on January 25, 2000, and subsequently reelected. He served as Speaker 2006 through 2008. Speaker Rubio lead the charge in the House of Representatives for Property Tax Reform and was the architect of the 100 Ideas campaign which was designed to engage the public in developing ideas to make our state a better place.

To date, we have been unable to re-schedule the Tiger Bay with Senator Gaetz. If you registered and paid for the event with Senator Gaetz and you would like to attend the Tiger Bay with Speaker Rubio in lieu of Senator Gaetz please contact Jan Patterson. If you are unable to or do not wish to attend the Tiger Bay with Speaker Rubio a refund will be sent to you. Thank you for your patience.

FEMA Disaster Aid is Available to Alachua County Businesses

Alachua County has been declared a federal disaster area as a result of Hurricane Fay. Businesses that sustained losses or damages as a result of the storm may qualify for federal and state disaster aid.

For more information or to apply by phone, please call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or apply online at www.fema.gov. Please have the following information available when applying for aid: Social Security number and / or Business ID number; address of damaged property and description of damages; insurance information; and current mailing address and phone number.
