CPPI Wins Contract to Construct UF’s Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, and Orthopaedics facilitySeptember 13th, 2016 by gainesvillechamber
The University of Florida recently selected Charles Perry Partners, Inc. (CPPI) as the Construction Manager for the forthcoming $29 million Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, and Orthopedics facility.
The UF Health Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, and Orthopaedics building (referred to as “OOO”) is projected to be a 4-story, approximately 85,000-100,000 SF state-of-the-art multidisciplinary facility engaged in teaching, research, surgery, rehabilitation and clinical care of all patients with conditions affecting their eyes, ears, nose, throat, and musculoskeletal system. The building will be connected to the existing UF Health Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Institute which currently provides complete orthopedic evaluation and care across all subspecialties.
The OOO facility will be located on the west side of the UF campus on 34th street adjacent and attached to the existing orthopaedics institute, which will incur some minor renovations to accommodate this connection. This site is also within walking distance to UF Health Florida Surgical Center in an effort to create easy and convenient access to multiple specialties for patients in its significant regional footprint.
The UF Health Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Institute has already created strong local brand
recognition for this location and has associated the University of Florida with a commitment to excellence for the efficient provision of orthopaedic care in a number of areas. The UF Health OOO building will provide the UF Health Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Institute the expansion needed to create clinical capacity and support for new collaborative musculoskeletal centers of excellence. Additionally, the new facility will allow the Departments of Otolaryngology and Ophthalmology to each consolidate their two multiple practice sites to one location, and allow for growth that their current landlocked space does not allow. The multidisciplinary approach to ENT care in the new facility will allow the patient access to a multitude of ancillary services in one location.
The OOO project is part of UF Health’s 5-year strategic plan to build on the hospital’s strong record for patient care, add more faculty and research staff as part of the university’s campaign for pre-eminence. Additionally, it will certainly strengthen the hospital’s research infrastructure and recognition as a destination clinical center for patients throughout the southeast who have needs for these highly specialized services.
Serving as construction manager, Charles Perry Partners, Inc. will be teaming with Flad Architects to deliver this project. Construction of the new UF Health “OOO” project will be completed July 2018.
“Charles Perry Partners is pleased to have been selected as the Construction Manager and looks forward to working with the University of Florida and UF Health once again. The new building will be occupied by the Orthopedics, Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology departments. It’s great to be a Florida Gator!” said Breck Weingart, Chairman/President of Charles Perry Partners, Inc.
