UF Named Among Top Five Online Colleges by BestColleges.comAugust 15th, 2016 by gainesvillechamber
For the second year in a row, the University of Florida earned a spot on our list of the best online colleges with its extensive and inclusive online education portfolio. In addition to five levels of online degrees, including traditional bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral credentials, students can opt to earn one of three specialist degrees, all of which are related to the field of education. International degrees in construction management, pharmacy and public health are also available. There are several bachelor’s degree completion programs that can be earned in two years if applicants already hold an associate’s degree.
UF’s online students access their classes through e-Learning, powered by the open source learning management system Sakai. Through this platform, students and instructors have access to a number of web-based collaboration and research tools, such as the anti-plagiarism programs Turnitin and iThenticate. Some classes are also accessed through Canvas. Online students have the same support system and services in place as their on-campus counterparts. They can sign up for disability accommodations and remotely access: counseling services, the UF bookstore and library, Career Resource Center and academic advising.
With over 1,200 public and not-for-profit universities offering courses online, the online program at University of Florida has not only set the standard for distance learning in Florida, but for the country as a whole!
