Local Manufacturers Go Behind the Scenes of ExactechAugust 15th, 2016 by gainesvillechamber
The Chamber’s Advanced Manufacturing Council went “Behind the Scenes” last Wednesday evening at Exactech, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of bone and joint restoration products. A finalist for the 2015 Manufacturer of the Year Award, Exactech was built on a strong foundation with a values-driven, customer-centric culture. Our business decisions are guided by the following values: Integrity, Compassion, Teamwork, Excellence, and Innovation. Exactech employs more than 460 people in Gainesville.
Ryan Loftus, Senior Manager of Engineering at Exactech and Chair of the Chamber’s Advanced Manufacturing Council talked about the company’s latest innovations and commitment to retaining talent. At any given time, Exactech typically has as many as 10 interns on staff, and trains them with an intent to keep them on staff permanently.
The “Behind the Scenes” series stems from an idea conceived in 2015 by the Advanced Manufacturing Council Board. The quarterly series provides manufacturers in the region with “Behind the Scenes” perspective on the technologies, history and strategy being leveraged by their fellow manufacturers in the region. More than 40 attendees including manufacturers, education and workforce partners and other community members interested in manufacturing participated in the Council’s second 2016 meeting.
