Gainesville Restaurant Week Kicks Off this Thursday!

Greater Gainesville, we hope you’re hungry. Because this Thursday, the Chamber will kick off its annual celebration of our unique region’s unique culinary culture and the small businesses that deliver it, Restaurant Week 2016.

This year’s 10-day event will begin June 16 at the University Air Center in the Mustang Hanger at 4 p.m., and run through June 25, offering fare from over 30 restaurants that have created fantastic deals for you to enjoy. More than 1,000 people attended last years Kick-Off event, which will feature more than 20 participating restaurants that will provide fantastic food and drink as well as gift-card giveaways. Visit to check out participating restaurants, and like Gainesville Restaurant Week’s Facebook page for regular updates and to see who’s planning to be there.

No cost for Chamber members (and family); $15 for non-members/general public. Tickets can be bought at the event or in advance here.

Restaurant Week has become a fun, tasty tradition in Gainesville, but has its roots in a serious effort to support local Chamber member businesses.

“Restaurant Week was created to provide a solution to the slow-down in business faced by local restaurants after students have gone home for the summer,” said Membership Director Steve Cannon. “When you visit a participating restaurant, you can enjoy a delicious meal and support local businesses and jobs while you do it.”

There’s something for every palette during Restaurant Week, with food choices ranging from American, to Asian, to Italian and more. Chances are, if you have a taste for it, Restaurant Week has it. Be sure to download Gift Certificates & More’s free mobile app to check out Restaurant Week Specials on the go.

If you want to sign your restaurant up, there’s still time. Visit for more information.
