  • enterprise florida logoSouth Korea and Taiwan Trade Mission:Registration for the trade mission to South Korea and Taiwan closes this week and there remain a few slots available. For more information on the mission please review the attached announcement. EFI is also leading a trade mission to Mexico City, May 23-26, 2016.
  • Trade Shows: In addition to trade missions such as those highlighted above, trade shows are widely recognized as one of the most effective methods for a company to develop sales networks abroad. I provided you with a link to our international trade calendar in the last email and I wanted to remind you that EFI provides financial assistance in the form of Target Sector Trade Event Grants for qualified companies to exhibit at trade shows abroad. An overview of their program can be found at : https://www.enterpriseflorida.com/wp-content/uploads/efi-target-sector-grant-flyer-application.pdf . These grants can be used for virtually any trade show abroad (the show does not have to be on our calendar)and companies can avail themselves of two grants per each fiscal year. The grant will reimburse 50% (up to $6,000) for the cost of a turnkey booth at a trade show. The application process takes less than ten minutes.
  • Export Marketing Program: Many of our businesses may be interested in expanding overseas but they have no clue regarding which markets might hold potential and how to prioritize those markets. This happens to both experienced and novice exporters alike. Our Export Marketing Plan Program was developed in response to this need. Partnering with the Small Business Development Centers statewide, trade specialists will analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the exporter and develop a detailed strategy for international expansion. Enterprise Florida offers a grant for this program as well which will cover all but $500 of the cost of developing the export strategy. You an access information on this exciting program at: http://floridasbdc.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/EMS-Flyer.pdf.
  • Foreign Receivables Insurance: Many small business (and big ones too!) are fearful of not getting paid for the goods or services they might sell overseas. As daunting of a problem as this seems there is an incredibly simple solutions; Foreign Receivable Insurance from the Ex-Im Bank. Under this innovative program an exporter can offer its buyer overseas 30, 60, 90, 180 days same as cash credit terms and get 95% insurance on its US-origin export. The cost is minimal ($65 for a $10,000 invoice) and the Ex-Im Bank even conducts the background check on the buyer overseas…for free. EFI has referred dozens of companies to this program and it works exceptionally well in solving one of the biggest worries for an exporter; getting paid. For more information on the program go to: http://www.exim.gov/what-we-do/export-credit-insurance or have your company simply give us a call. Another export finance related service that is available to exporters is the Florida Export Finance Corporation (FEFC). A sister organization to EFI the FEFC is charged with providing all Florida exporters with comprehensive counseling on the various export finance tools that are available.
