Bo Diddley Plaza Officially Reopened

BDP-3-webAfter one year of being closed for a $1.8 million renovation, Bo Diddley Plaza was officially reopened last Thursday by the Gainesville Community Redevelopment Agency.

Six key figures in the project spoke at the ceremony, including Mayor Ed Braddy and Evelyn Cooper, Bo Diddley’s daughter.

The park is open to the public between 7 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. and now boasts enhanced safety and accessibility features. A green room was also added behind the stage with a colorful waterfall facing University Ave., as well as a cafe and information kiosk on each of the north-facing corners.
