United Way of North Central Florida Director Presenting Unique Small Business Program at United Way Worldwide ConferenceFebruary 6th, 2016 by gainesvillechamber
United Way of North Central Florida Director Chris Wells will present at the annual United Way Worldwide Fundraising for Impact Summit February 9-11 in Tampa, Florida.
Wells’ presentation will focus on UWCNFL’s Small Business Partnership, a unique donor investment program that targets Small Business owners to give to the local community. Over the past 12 months, the initiative has grown UWNCFL’s Community Investment Fund by 15% — that’s nearly five times the average growth!
This program – the only one of its kind in the US – creates new revenue independent from the typical United Way workplace payroll deduction fundraising campaigns, which has long been the lifeblood of United Way giving.
“In recent years, workplace campaigns have been declining, it has become obvious that new and innovative strategies need to be created to continue to fulfill our community’s needs,” said UWNCFL Director of Small Business Chris Wells. “With more than 100 Small Business Partners to-date, this initiative has done just that.”
“We were so pleased to be included in the program for the United Way Worldwide conference,” said UWNCFL President & CEO Deborah Bowie. “Small Business drives the local economy and our Small Business Partnerships have allowed us to reach an entirely new audience of donors. This is a program that is completely portable to other communities.”
In addition to the presentation at the Fundraising for Impact Summit, UWNCFL will be hosting an expanded conference on the Small Business Partnership on September 13 in Gainesville. Mission Main Street: Why Small Business is Critical to the Growth of Your Community Investment Fund will teach other United Ways how to grow a sustainable revenue stream with small businesses, Bowie added.
