Novorossiisk, Russia Chamber of Commerce President Visits GainesvilleFebruary 20th, 2016 by gainesvillechamber
The Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce recently hosted Novorossiisk, Russia Chamber of Commerce President, Igor Zharinov. Zharinov visited Gainesville Feb. 18 -20, 2016 as part of the Sister City Program. Novorossiisk and Gainesville has been engaged in sister city activities since 1982. During his visit Zharinov met with Mayor Ed Braddy, representatives from the University of Florida and the Santa Fe College CIED. On Friday, Feb. 19 the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a meeting for members and business leaders to discuss doing business in Russia. Zharinov discussed economic development opportunities between the two cities specifically highlighting the resources of Novorossiisk such as a major deep water port on the Black Sea. The Chamber’s program Export Gainesville, supports exporting of Gainesville company products and services internationally as a way to grow companies and jobs in our region. The Chamber has partnered with Enterprise Florida and the U.S. Commercial Service to offer international trade consulting services in Gainesville. The trade office is located at the Chamber and is staffed on the first Wednesday of each month by international trade specialists. You can contact the Chamber to schedule the free appointment.
