Third Straight ‘Deficiency Free’ Rating Means High Marks for Senior Living Community

Meeting the state of Florida’s standards for excellent assisted living care is no simple task, but for the third straight time, The Village at Gainesville has passed the test, earning a ‘deficiency free’ rating on its biannual survey from the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). Following similar performances in 2011 and 2013, The Village is again meeting all standards and regulations deemed important by the state to provide exceptional care.

“This is a win not just for our health services team, but for the entire community,” said Rebecca Catalanotto, The Village’s director of health services. “It’s incredibly difficult to receive a rating like this, and we’ve now done it three straight times.”

A representative of AHCA spent two full days at the community, collecting information, conducting reviews of staff training procedures, documenting records, and talking with staff and residents. Upon completing the inspection, Catalanotto said she was given the congratulatory news that The Village had once again met every benchmark.

“While we know our staff strives every day to be the best, this survey validates that hard work,” said Jim Antonucci, executive director at The Village. “Since joining our community in 2011, Rebecca and her team have truly demonstrated what dedication to our residents is all about.”

Catalanotto has been in her current role since November of 2011, and says it’s gratifying to know her team is making a difference.

“A big part of the AHCA survey involves talking with residents,” she said. “When you get results like these, it means the people we care for each and every day are satisfied, and that means more than anything else.”

AHCA typically spends one of the two full days at a community on resident interviews.
