The Alachua County Education Compact (ACEC)—signed May 18 by leaders in business, education and government and the community at-large—is creating new opportunities to tell the Greater Gainesville story of talent pipeline innovation, garnering statewide and international attention and developing a framework to benchmark and measure success of its six goals. The Compact aims to achieve the following: all students graduate from high school, have access to and are prepared for college and/or career success, have access to pathways to sustainable jobs and careers and develop an appreciation for the arts, healthy lifestyle habits and a sense of social responsibility. The five focus areas for the Compact are  K-12 Education, Early Childhood Education, Parent Academy, Higher Education and Workforce Development. The Compact works to improve outcomes by increasing school readiness rates, high school graduation rates, access to post-secondary credentials and creating an aligned and productive workforce.  The Alachua County Education Compact is a collaborative that mobilizes the community around education to better prepare students for higher education and sustainable careers.
