Save the Date: Career Discoveries will take place Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Loften High School
The Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Talent Alignment and Education committee is hosting a 3-hour workshop to inform students and parents about emerging career opportunities in the region. Career Discoveries is taking place Saturday, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Professional Academies Magnet at Loften High School, 3000 E. University Ave.
Career Discoveries, sponsored by Domino’s, features local business professionals within the following industries: advanced manufacturing, technology/IT software, life sciences, healthcare, agriculture and logistics. During the opening session, each speaker will have an opportunity to pitch careers in his/her industry to entice students to their break out session. The break out sessions will then cover career pathways in the industries identified above and feature a panel of business owners and professionals who will share their story and answer questions.
Career Discoveries is planned by the Talent Alignment and Education committee, which oversees the programs and projects of the Chamber’s workforce development division – specifically to support and enhance education and the development of a more productive, skilled and inclusive workforce in Alachua County, FL. Chaired by the CEO of InterMed Rick Staab, this committee is comprised of representatives from Santa Fe College and Center for Innovation and Economic Development, Alachua County Public Schools, The Education Foundation of Alachua County, ShadowHealth, Kidder Advisers, LLC, Advantage Publishing Inc., Koss Olinger and Junior Achievement.
