Member Profile: CareSpot Offers Optimized Patient Care Experience

Gainesville’s two CareSpot Express HealthCare locations—on SW 2nd Ave. and NW 43rd St.—are part of a network of more than 50 locations spanning four states in the Southeastern U.S. But when it comes to individualized patient care, “custom” is a key word. One of Gainesville’s CareSpot locations is open 365 days a year for maximum patient accessibility. To increase convenience and access for patients, CareSpot another location opening this fall on Archer Rd. also will be open 365 days a year.

“Patients don’t stop needing care just because it is a weekend or a holiday,” said Gainesville Carespot Manager Christine Medina. “By being open every day, we help to keep people who don’t need to be in the emergency room from having to go there.”

A key aspect of CareSpot Express HealthCare’s approach to patient care is technology. Based on patient feedback received prior to launching of the brand for the entire chain, the company redesigned the care experience around what patients expressed as the most high-value attributes. Among them were short wait times and technological enhancements that facilitate a smoother process. For instance, because patients can register online or via smartphone or tablet, CareSpot is able to provide faster check-ins. Potential patients don’t have to wait until they need emergency care to go to CareSpot, which also offers other patient services such as physicals, screenings and general check-ups.

“My favorite part of working at CareSpot is helping the customer; we really want to make this the best experience as possible for our patients,” Medina said. “People don’t always love to go to the doctor, but we want to turn an average experience into an excellent one and put a smile on people’s faces.”


Medina’s sense of purpose reaches beyond CareSpot’s walls into the business community. As a graduate of Leadership Gainesville Class 36 serving  as a leader at a five-year Chamber member company, Medina understands the importance of building strong business relationships and has given back to help other businesses realize their potential and gain the full spectrum of benefits of Chamber membership.

“I was a Diplomat for The Chamber in the past and I have gone to many of The Chamber’s After Hours programs,” Medina said. “As a Leadership Gainesville graduate, I made lasting friendships and would encourage anybody who hasn’t done the program to try it.”
