STEM Ready connects unemployed and underemployed to paid internships at vetted STEM companiesJuly 26th, 2015 by gainesvillechamber
Companies and organizations including Mindtree, the Florida Innovation Hub, and Eventplicity are joining the 20+ other startups, non-profits, and established companies that are connecting with paid interns through STEM Ready.
STEM Ready can help your business, too. Through STEM Ready, employers gain access to skilled, qualified interns, pre-screened applicants, and 100+ additional skills assessments. Employers provide the job descriptions and set wage rates for trainees. STEM Ready funds can be used for employer-created or industry recognized training leading to certificates or degrees for trainees. Training costs and intern wages are covered directly by CareerSource North Central Florida for up to 12 weeks.
Companies interested in participating in STEM Ready do not need to be STEM companies, but interns must be engaged in learning a STEM occupation. For example, an internship in an IT department for a consumer product startup would qualify.
Are you interested in receiving training, a degree (two years or less), industry-recognized credentials, and/or mentorship and direct coaching from business leaders? Are you interested in working in science-, technology-, engineering- or mathematics-related fields?
If you answered yes, and have been seeking employment or a new opportunity for at least six months, you are eligible to apply today to work with a STEM Ready company, including those listed above, in a STEM field.
STEM Ready employers provide real-world experience that can enhance yours skills during a paid, 12-week internship. The best part? You earn these STEM job skills at no cost to you or the employer.
