Local employers are encouraged to register for second semi-annual Veteran job fair

The Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce will join forces with Alachua County and community partners to host the second semi-annual Veteran Job Fair on Thursday, July 2, 2015 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. ET at the Martin Luther King Jr. Multipurpose Center, 1029 N.E. 14th St. This event is free and open to all people who have served in the military.

More than 20 employers of various sizes and diverse industries—such as Enterprise Damage Recovery Unit, Meridian Behavioral Healthcare, Naylor Association Solutions, Gainesville Regional Utilities, Gaston’s Tree Service LLC and more—have already registered. Companies interested in attending may register by emailing

Job fair organizers include the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, Alachua County, City of Gainesville, United States Department of Veterans Affairs, Collegiate Veterans Success Center at University of Florida, Santa Fe College and CareerSource North Central Florida.

This fair targets both employed veterans seeking new opportunities and unemployed veterans ready to re-enter the workforce. In January, a similar job fair provided more than 200 individuals in search of career opportunities access to over 50 local employers and pre-fair employability workshops.

The North Central Florida Society for Human Resource Management (NCF-SHRM) will have a booth onsite to provide resume writing and interviewing assistance to veterans at the job fair.

For answers to general questions about the event, contact the Alachua County Manager’s Office at 352-374-5204.
