The Florida Legislature’s Special Session ended Friday with legislators’ passage of a state budget. Among the 232 bills passed this session, key outcomes include passage of measures to reduce to the Communications Services Tax, which will lover the cost of doing business and living by reducing the cell phone and cable television tax by 1.73 percent. A bill also was passed that will enable Enterprise Florida to Market Florida, with the first-ever allocation of state dollars ($10 million) to tell the great story of Florida’s business climate.
Chamber-supported bills that did not pass include efforts to reduce sales taxes on commercial leases as well as permanent removal of Manufacturing Machinery & Equipment Sales & Use Tax.
