The Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce urges the Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization (MTPO) for the Gainesville Urbanized Area to designate SW 62nd Boulevard Segments B and C as the top priority projects in the Year 2040 Long Range Transportation Cost Feasible Plan, which should also include transit and bicycle/pedestrian projects. “SW 62nd Boulevard is a community asset and vital to our region’s transportation infrastructure,” said Bryan Harrington, Chair of the Chamber’s Public Policy Committee. “The four-lane extension and widening projects would enhance safety, serve to improve response times for first responders and facilitate economic development,” added Mr. Harrington.
“The Chamber will advocate that the MTPO establish SW 62nd Boulevard as the top priority and include transit and bicycle/pedestrian projects in its cost feasible plan,” said Kamal I. Latham, Vice President for Public Policy at the Chamber. “A multi-modal transportation network is important for the smooth flow of people, services and goods in our region,” added Mr. Latham.
