National Friends of the Libraries Week

During National Friends of the Libraries Week, October 21-27, 29012, the Alachua County Library District will celebrate, honor and thank its Friends of the Library for its significant contributions, support and advocacy for the Library District. Since 1986, when the Library District became an independent special taxing district, the Friends have donated $3.5 million dollars to the Library District. It’s important for all citizens to know how this funding supports our community. Scholarship dollars for library staff members translates into higher education degrees and better career paths. More diverse programming engages learners of all ages opening doors that expand opportunities. Improving literacy skills helps change lives. Please visit your library to learn how you can be a Friend of the Library.
